Free Asset Ratio
A way of seeing whether a life insurance company has enough assets to cover its potential liabilities. The Free Asset Ratio simply measures the market value of the company's assets to its liabilities. If the ratio is low the company has to be more cautious in its investments to make sure it has enough cash to cover maturing savings policies.
